Wow it has been a while since I have updated my blog, school has gotten busy and my time has gone down significantly.
Happy Hallowe'en to all.
I recently went through a week of midterms, having one Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. So much stress, but that part is over for now........for now.....
I have been trying out the latest Ubuntu, version 8.10. It's quite nice I must say. Finally I can install the nVidia drivers for my card because whatever detection system they used they fixed so it works with my hardware which is awesome. Having a 512MB card also helps with running Compiz-Fusion, which allows for fancy graphical effects to be applyed to your windows and your desktop.
In addition it is a lot spedier and even when using it from the Live CD it feels like you could use it full time, except for the fact that your RAM would fill up and your session freeze, been there done that. The only complaint I have is the network manager applet that controls all networking starts having a feild day with my DNS information and don't communicate with my routers given DNS servers, or its own built in one. OpenDNS came to my rescue but it has a tendency of being slow. It seemed to jsut be the wired connection so maybe its the driver? I'm not too sure.

Changes
As you may have noticed there have been some minor changes to the site. Mainly just the title and subtitle. I am on the hunt for the perfect template but haven't found one yet. If anyone knows of any amazing ones let me know, I'm going for something red based.
Also I added some Last.fm widgets just because I could. Feel free to play with them :D
There is also a new Poll feature that I will change every-so-often, if you have a topic/suggestion drop me a line.

Midys
Its now mid-term week for us ECE students above first year at UW. It is literally just that, a week of midterms, I have one every single day, Monday -> Friday. I would have had two on Thursday but they fell at the exact same time. ECE 209 (P), ECE 223(P/F), ECE 250(p/F), Math 211 and STV 205. We will see how they go.
This is some crazy stuff - Wake up, study, study, maybe interview, study, Midterm, study, study, study, sle..., study, study,.... and it just keeps going. :(
This has been a quick update in the life of Scott Morris. Not much has happened - except me face planting in the snow, twice. Just ask James, its hilarious.
Ok, back to study
Scott IB Morris.

Pi π
Dear James,
According to Windows Calculator Pi is ≈ 3.1415926535897932384626433832795. That is some crazy persision on their part. Why is it there? Why is there a ln function without an e function? I guess we will never know the answer to these questions....Unless someone from Microsoft posts one in the comment section.
Sincerely,
Scott
P.S. Feel free to leave comments on any of the posts.

It Starts Part II
So this is part II of the post.
Notebook II
I ended up going with the ASUS V1S-B1 (Google it for in depth details). Its much better than the other F3Sv-C1. Its 200 $ more and it have a few neat features. Its lighter and slimmer than the other one. Its also has double the dedicated video memory. The other was 256 MB VRAM and this one is 512 MB :D This means that I can finally play the Sims 2 the way it was intended to be :P. It maintains the 1680x1050 screen rez that the other had and a 15.4" display. I'm excited for this nice machine to come and am currently waiting funding.
Cookies
I have discovered Golden Oreos. I know this is kind of a plug for Kraft but they are so good. If you haven't tried them then your missing out and should. If you don't like them then good for you trying them and forming an opinion :)
Rez
Got for Christmas a 19" LCD TV so we can watch TV shows here and it conveniently has a VGA input so I can hook up a notebook to it and we can have movie nights. I now have some popcorn for my air popper so we're all set. This also doubles for TV shows that are missed.
Thats it for now.
Ian
P.S. James I will try for every two days from now on but it might slip a few.

It Starts Part 1
So its back to the daily grind of University since Monday, January 7, 2008. This means the the amount of free time that I have goes from big to almost null. Its going to be an exciting term though, a Data Structure course, a Digital Circuits course, Calculus (weee), a Materials Property Course and an elective about Society and how machines have an impact on the way we live.
Notebook :P
So its almost time :D I should be getting my new computer within the next few weeks. The starange part is that the model I wanted was never released. I called up ASUS and asked them about its release and they initally said that it was to be mass released in Canada and the US. Still nothing.... So I called them back a few weeks later and it didn't exsist in there system. :'( so back to the start. They however did suggested a V1S or G2S.
